Lakewood Ranch Main Street

We went to Lakewood Ranch today. Dad and Juliann have been wanting to see it. It was a new area/subdivision as best as I could tell. When I say subdivision, that is not at all accurate. It is a huge development area with many real subdivisions and it has commercial areas and professional areas. Anyway this statue was there in the main street area and I thought it was cute, interesting and odd. So I took a picture.

Golf Clubs

One thing I neglected to mention. There was a neighborhood yard sale going on when I got here Saturday. I decided to look for golf clubs. I walked the neighborhood till I found some. The current owner of the clubs was not there. There was a price of $10 on the bag and clubs. I knocked on the door. No answer. I waited. I spotted $2 under a box.I figured it must be the honor system. I placed my $10 under the same box and now I am the owner of these fine golf clubs and walk back to Dad and Juliann's house. When I got there I showed off my find and explained they no longer have to borrow clubs when someone visits.
We played golf the next day. When I put them on the cart Dad said they might be ladies clubs. I told him no they weren't. I haven't played in a year. I have never hit the ball so accurate and straight. It was great fun with my $10 clubs. They play a little 9 hole course and about the 6th hole I pulled out one of the clubs and the handle was in poor shape and sticky. I will pay to have it regripped. No biggie. Finished the round and it was great. I was really pleased with how well I played.
Next day, Monday, we take the club that is messed up to get regripped. People there were wonderful. I just took the one club in to be regripped. I started bragging about my great find but could not remember what kind they were. I had to walk back to the car and pulled out the clubs. It was then that I noticed the LDY on the bottom of the driver. Dang it. They are ladies clubs. Then I thought, so what, at least I hit the ball straight with them.
Tuesday - another golf day. I had even better results this time and scored the same as Dad. The absolute best part was that I only played with one ball. I never lost it. That has never, ever happened before.
My secret to great golf is apparently ladies clubs.

Croissants

And.....
They also had croissants. Yay. I bought one each of Apple, apricot and the peach and pear. They were worth every penny spent.

Divinity

At Venice Beach there is a little shopping district. Croisssant and Company is a wonderful little French bakery. These are the divinity that I bought. Strawberry, lemon and lavender, all delicious.

Another Posing Bird

I liked this bird also. There were a couple of smaller birds on the jetty also but just would not sit still long enough for a pic. HA.

A Bird at Venice

Dad and I walked out on one of the jetty's at Venice Beach. This is one of the birds. It posed just like the next one. Apparently after a couple of weeks of cool weather, the birds like the feel of the way sun just like we do.

Dog Race Night

I mentioned to Juliann when she picked me up that I had never been to the dog track. She said that is something we could do while I was here. The races started at 730 as I found out. I knew nothing about betting on the dogs. I would soon learn a little.

After the nap I took another tums for my indigestion. I felt my hair was a mess and dad looked for a hat for me. The dog track was about 45 minutes away. A dollar a piece to get in, cash only. Juliann got me a hat again cash only. She got some money from Dad. She brought no cash. Luckily I did. I asked one of the people that takes the money for the bets about how and the process. Juliann bought a ticket 1,8 quinella. She had no idea about it. It was her last two dollars, cash. Gave Dad $20 in case he wanted to bet.  He is the smart one of the bunch. I studied a bit then asked the guy more questions got 12 tickets 1,5 quinella. I also got a trifecta on race 5 $30. First race ended and neither of us won. I asked Juliann's favorite numbers 1,3. I bought her tickets for next 6 races 1,3 quinella, $12. $1 beer and hot dog night. 2 beers and 2 hot dogs for me. I actually won a bet and it paid $21. I took that money and reinvested(lol) it on more betting. Me 4,8 quinella next four races and 1,3 quinella for Juliann for the rest of races. That was $20 of the winnings. We are both all in now for the night... They leave with three races left. It is chilly for them and wait for me in car. I stay and place another $6 bet. Nothing else wins. I spent $68 but won $21. I also gave $20 to dad to spend. He still has it in his pocket. He wins.

As mentioned earlier, I had indigestion. I thought I could suffer it through the night it should be over. I had taken two tums throughout the day. Nope. I had a miserable night of burping and trying to sleep. About 430 looked for baking soda. A teaspoon in a little bit of water and boom. Gone. Over. No indigestion. Yay and slept three and a half hours. Felt great, finally.

Dog race set up

The handlers bringing dogs out to show before the race..

And so the day goes...

Bullet points instead of long explanation of everything -

Flight good
Juliann picked me up
Dad was working and his car's water pump broke
We picked him up
Went to lunch had a wonderful meal
My indigestion got worse(more on that later
Took a nap

See nothing out of the ordinary. A completely uneventful day. It was wonderful.

The meal was the fettuccine weedy from Carrabba's.

In ATL

Landed safely. I have mostly flown Delta over the years. It is my favorite for some reason or another. I have never had a bad experience with them. Yes, the seats are to small and too close together, but that is the way it goes. Since it was in a flight that was not filled I was able to move and get the nice leg room seat by the door. I like Delta and the flight attendants have most of all be really nice there may have been an exception here or there but none worth remembering.
Now that I have said some slight praises of Delta, I will now not give any praises to airport food. Breakfast - bacon, biscuits, gravy(they may call it sausage gravy but there is no sausage in it), scrambled eggs, grits and coffee -$13.  Not that good of a deal. Some day someone may think it is a good deal and long for the $13 airport food breakfast, but not today. The one thing that will be complained about in the future is the lack of flavor of the food. I ate my meal like a champ and enjoyed every bite.

To FL

Well, it started eventfully. Got up on time and left a little later. We wanted to eat at waffle house before I was dropped off at the airport. Lori likes listening to Coast to Coast radio. Me not so much. There was an interesting discussion and the host mentioned radio waves move at the speed of light. I thought that was incorrect. To prove my point I started to get my phone to research. Oops. Forgot phone, tablet and passport. No waffle house this morning. We still tried to call the one by the airport. I called it in for pickup. 8 minutes later when I got there, not even started. urgh. Nope, no waffle house today. Checking in was uneventful so I got smart water to counteract any upcoming forgetfulness. I topped it off with a lovely overpriced parfait. Some company made the effort to make granola bars and the company that made the parfait made the effort to break them apart. Now I know why it was over priced. Boarding.

And I was wrong. Radio waves travel at speed of light.

The Beginning

This will not be added to frequently. It will be added to when I go somewhere. I have While in Amsterdam.... but what if I go somewhere else? I have decided that the best thing to do is to have one that will encompass everywhere I go and not just one spot.

After Amsterdam last year, I went to Florida and visited my Dad and Juliann. No pictures exist anywhere except my phone. I am going again in another couple of weeks and I will now upload and update as I see fit.

I also have a blog that is Things I have built.. Hard to add things that I have cooked or thoughts I may have so I will start one that can include all. I miss blogging in general and hope that at least I can keep things interesting for someone to read at sometime. Until then, it will just be me...
